THE LAKE - (narrative prose example by jrqc)

After a period of pondering thoughts, ideas and projects, David seized the opportunity to embark in a journey of self-improvement. Undoubtedly an endeavor which will not take place overnight, yet the very notion and intention marked a significant stride forward, irrespective of other's perceptions. Ultimately, he was the author of his own narrative, responsible for setting his life's course in motion.   On that particular evening he ensured a calm and composed demeanor. In fact, he was excited about it all, as if a gust of fresh air had entered the room bringing along whispers of hope and good omen while the sun reigned above a painted-blue sky.  A single droplet of sweat traced a path down his cheek until it delicately landed upon the wooden surface of the coffin he labored to carry through the sands. The weight of its contents caught him off guard. He meticulously arranged the memories and thoughts within, safeguarding them from spilling out of their wooden vessel. Some memor

STORM AND STONE - lyrical poem with analysis (written by jrqc)

Appease the ire in me, for I have become a raging storm filled with fire and stone, I am force, I am my own and my eyes they see further on, beyond the curtain and the veil. Pacify the hatred and swallow it in compassion and strength, and let the crow signal the courage and fearlessness of the heart, for it is he the core, there source of all that blooms in this world of blue. Let strength and bravery with shield and sword reign, with crown of patience and wisdom, for I am storm with fire and stone, and my eyes will still see further on, beyond the curtain and the veil. Blow the wind into the veils of my boat, and it will sail on safe waters of forgetfulness and calmness though I will hammer the clouds in ire, she shall stay afloat, force and strength, mind self-aware.  TEXT ANALYSIS As you have already noticed this poem has a reflective and introspective tone. It focuses on themes of inner turmoil, strength, courage, and self-discovery. The use of vivid imagery (which is key!!!)  and

ROAD TO SELF-BETTERMENT - based on the basic principle of Stoicsm - written by jrqc

There is always time for introspection, there is always something to be fixed here and there, it is timeless and aids in our self-discovery and feeling manifestations within ourselves. Introspection holds the key to unveiling aspects within ourselves that require more attention and improvement.  I truthfully believe it is absolutely important to engage in this process as it is not only valuable but essential for personal growth. This process can enable us to delve in the depths of our sentiments and to comprehend ourselves better. At its core, introspection empower us to differentiate feeling that nurture our well-being and those who undermine it. Equally, it offers the opportunity to  discern the cultivation of emotional intelligence allowing us to mitigate and reduce the negative ones. However, this latter endeavor seems at times quite cumbersome, since it is basically a testament of how intricate our human nature and the capacity of self-control is. We are not perfect in our human n

EMBRACING SORROW'S DEATH - poem (metaphors, evokative language and analysis) written by jrqc

Walking through the moors I lay my sorrow to rest underground,  letting the earth swallow its flesh, bones and stones, while I water the ground with my tears, my tears that once were hers, now trickle down my cheeks in freedom, longing, drying away. I look up at the moon, wailing she was, for the sepulchre of her sister has been made, she, sorrow, lays in rest,  and  no more is heard of her,  not a whisper, not a gasp, nothing, so she bathes her with her light of consolation at night, and it is her who now, covered with a crown of stars, weeps at night, in a velvety sky. I have laid you to rest my once beloved companion,  for in your cold embrace, you made me warm with your pain, I release you once and for all,  for there no more of you I wish for.  ABOUT THE POEM This is a poem I have written with a reflective and introspective tone. It explores themes of sorrow, loss, letting go, and finding solace in nature and the night sky. The imagery (on which I 100% rely on) and language used e

Stoicism: Embracing Resilience in an Impatient World - essay written by jrqc (essay tips)

Introduction: In a world characterized by instant gratification, impatience seems to have become a prevailing sentiment. Yet, there exists a school of thought that stands in stark contrast to this prevailing disposition: Stoicism. Rooted in ancient Greece, Stoicism is a philosophical system that champions resilience, self-control, and a measured response to life's challenges. As a regular individual, my occasional impatience aligns with the inherent human struggle, but delving into Stoicism unveils a pathway towards greater emotional intelligence and self-mastery. At least in theory. Embracing the Contrast of Control: Stoicism emphasizes the contrrast of control – the clear distinction between what lies within our control and what does not. In an age of constant stimuli and overstimulation, embracing this concept can serve as a refuge from frustration. I have realized that while I may not instantly master learning fully a language, but I can control the effort and dedication I inve

LOVE'S ROMANTIC DEATH - NARRATIVE / SHORT STORY BY JRQC

For Martin, the simple act of getting up was a powerful force that translated into the sensation of morning freshness, as if his existence depended on it. And it was not in vain. He embodied one of those characters capable of making the mind and body flutter, a whirlwind infused with passion for everything representing beauty. When his eyes directly met yours, you felt exposed, as if an eternal flame shone in his honey-colored eyes. He seldom directed his gaze towards people while speaking, but when he did, you felt at his mercy, as if his eyes penetrated the walls of your soul and heart, leaving you exposed. However, I don't complain, as under the shelter of his aura and words, I felt the comforting warmth of that fiery gaze. His gaze intoxicated me, his words bathed me. Yes, that's Martin. That's him, the one I fell in love with. For him, life was a feast offering delicious delicacies and pleasures which he indulged in without distinction or regret. His strength pulled me
