THE VOICE (of faith and evil) - written by jrqc (philosophical literature - fiction)

THE VOICE (of faith and evil) "I believe the world itself can blind you with its banal sweet-honey taste, making you forget who you truly are. It's so easy to fall for it without even realizing about it. Sometimes I so hate it!" Thought he while staring at the gloomy morning that somehow felt as if carrying a burden of pessimism on its shoulders.  "I'd say that this world itself makes your spirit bloom in its rightful and truthful nature" a faint voice whispered, hollowed and distant. "Besides, what would you be if it wasn't for this world that you somehow have conquered and shaped to your own convenience?. This world, as you put it, has not left you out, furthermore it has complied to your wishes and whims". The soft tone of the whispering voice added. "There you are wrong! We know perfectly well that I am what I am through my God-given free will and that it is through HIS help that I have lived and experienced things out of HIS mercy s...

MY BELOVED (short story by jrqc)

"Ohhh... the sun is already out... I wonder if I have any new messages.... Nope... of course not... Okay, I have to get up and take a quick shower before heading to the gym." That was Brian, just a simple next-door type of man in his mid-thirties, who happened to be living another day of his systematic life. Nothing was accidental, nothing was by chance, nothing was surprising. Everything was insanely and uninterestingly routine without falling into the pit of perfectionism. In fact, he was far from that notion. He was more systematic than anything else. He would do his job as usual, eat the same food mostly, and go to the same places repeatedly, even though he would at times say to himself, "Hmm, this weekend there will be nice weather... I should go somewhere nice and new." But you and I know he would not do so. As he ate a banana right after his shower, he glanced through the window to check if the gym in front, where he went, was already open. "Alright, I b...

THE PAINTER - by jrqc (creative writing)

He woke up. His face showing the lines that life has provided him with, yet with the gift of wisdom and serenity. He has one of those faces that evoke trust and a pair of light brown eyes  roofed up by gre-bushy eyebrows. One can easily get lost in pleasure when staring into those eyes that encapsulate calmness and sternness. He was like that, and what you see is what you get. Just simplicity. That morning, his heart beat with exhilaration  as eagerness invaded him and his mind felt like streams of water pervaded in colors, his thoughts scattered yet focused on the horizon of his emotions. It was one of those moments in which inspiration moved him to the core letting him know that something needed to be done so as to quench the thirst of his creativity. It was an impulse that would take up  his mind and wouldn't abandon his host until the task was completed. He certainly enjoyed the ritual in which these feelings overpowered him since it made him feel alive, and that afte...

MORNING WINGS (by jrqc - poem, imagery and symbolism)

I remember the time I would spread my wings wide, I remember the sun warming and caressing my face, no need to hide just as I was soaring to the skies, I sensed you near, I let myself go as I abandoned all fear. One day, I jumped up high, I let my wings open in the last minute, one day, I felt free and light, as my own soul held me by the hands, as we circled the skies in a frenzy dance. in a crazy spin, just feeling the joy within. You remind me of freedom, of a young soul, in the vast skies eager to soar, let us fly away, play in a field of dreams, covered in rainbow streams. Let us spread our wings and transcend the skies, transcending day and night our spirits rise, just as we abandon the flesh cage, we return to the place where we belong, we are anew, nothing is wrong.

DISCOVERING US - article written by jrqc

In the hustle of everyday life, we grapple with questions that range from wardrobe choices to unraveling the mysteries of our inner selves. Like many of you, I've embarked on a journey of self-discovery, attempting to decode the essence of who I am. Spoiler alert: it's been more of a head-scratcher than a clear-cut roadmap. Let me share what I've stumbled upon. Personality: The Ever-Evolving Tapestry Our personalities, those quirks that make us 'us,' are a mix of innate traits and lessons from life's school of hard knocks. These traits, be they the life of the party or the wallflower, are the first things folks notice. But here's the scoop: personality isn't a static thing. It's a dynamic masterpiece shaped by experiences, relationships, and personal growth. Nature and nurture dance together, weaving a tapestry that's a blend of familiar threads and unique patterns. Embracing this ever-evolving nature is the key to not just understanding ourselve...

STATUE OF LOVE - poetic monologue by jrqc (stanzas, metaphors, symbolism used)

You banished me from the coldness of your embrace. Despite my begging and suffering, as I tore my ragged clothes in desperation, you showed no mercy and gave me none. My knees were grated and grazed from the harsh ground on which they stood. However, you, oh cold statue named Love, pointed your accusing finger at me, crowning my heart with thorns while exclaiming, "You, my child, the one who denied me! You, the one who refused my embrace! You ungrateful creature! You shall now wander the moors with pain in your heart and inhabit the shadows of my Love!" Despite the harrowing circumstances, my squirming soul persisted, and with what was left of my heart, I endured the pain. My teary, blurry vision became the prelude to new perceptions. But that was it, for I was scarred. I am scarred. I will be scarred, and no words, neither from that statue of Love nor yours, will provoke a change in the way things are. I have walked the moors, wept, and wailed throughout the vastness of the ...

NOVELTY IN HUMAN CREATION: IS THERE SUCH A THING? - by jrqc (essay and vocabulary for English learners)

An idea arises; it pops in your head. Thoughts spring from it, either evolving into reality or dwindling until they perish. The same applies to the comprehension of a notion. It surfaces in our minds only to be eventually shelved, either due to irrelevance or because it has previously been contemplated without yielding results. There exists a certain element of creativity and thoughtful discussion that stimulates our capacities and skills in this creative process of thought. It is a captivating endeavor to contemplate, for instance, a philosophical idea, along with its utility, repercussions, and the potential results we may achieve. However, a more formidable question looms: Has this new "idea" already been conceived by someone else? My point is straightforward. I believe that a lot, if not everything, has been said and thought of, and we continue to grapple with the same unanswered questions and notions. Queries such as "Why are we here?" "What's my purpo...
